spinal-anatomyWhat Causes Back Pain?

The back is a complicated structure of bones, joints, ligaments and muscles. You can sprain ligaments, strain muscles, rupture disks, and irritate joints, all of which can lead to back pain.   Sports injuries or other accidents can cause back pain but , sometimes even the simplest of movements—for example, picking up something off the floor— can have painful results. In addition, poor posture, arthritis, weight gain, and stress can cause or contribute to back pain.  Back pain can also directly result from disease of the internal organs, such as kidney or gallbladder stones, kidney infections, blood clots, or other serious conditions .

Chiropractic Adjustments as a Treatment for Back Problems

Chiropractic adjustments are a safe and effective back pain treatment.  It reduces pain and swelling and increases joint mobility.  This allows the body to heal itself naturally, by gently restoring the normal motion of the joints and reducing the pressure and irritation on the spinal nerves.

  • Avoid prolonged inactivity or bed rest.
  • Warm up or stretch before exercising or other physical activities, such as gardening.
